Please come back
I know
I'm the next kid
In that line
That's fine
Everyone I know,
They just sit,
And watch me lie.
I lie.
I refuse to put trust in me
I'll laugh at the look on your face
As I bring you down,
Which wasn't what I meant to do.
Everything will pass
I'll know what I need
You may not know why I'm here
I'm looking for me
So build up homes of trust
Forgive apathy
Maybe I'll drop out looking
For the rest of me
Or will I?
Put a fork in the road
A knife in my path,
Will i take the greater evil to find my way back?
Go on say your prayer
Let me drown in me
Everything you touch
Turns to gold in me
Wave your hands
I'll walk on by
Or crawl on my knees
I will still try
So build up
Homes of trust
Forget apathy
I'll keep out
All the things that have been weighing down on me.

It smells like cheap hotel and cigarette smoke on my clothing.
You're upset again and you fight to keep from showing.
You spent the last of all your bread to make certain I was fed.
You went without to make sure I was sheltered and inside my bed.
Lost your life to complications, but you wouldn't leave your kids.
Spent half a year with kidney failure stuck inside the building.
Where family never came, the drugs were more important.
As an 8 year old, I've learned my view was quite distorted.
Remember you said bye once and I didn't understand.
Smiling at me crying, holding face inside your hands
"Please watch over Cody, he's your brother keep him safe"
"Hopefully one day I'll take you both to my place"
"Where you'll be happy, you'll be healthy, proud to call me Mom"
I am here today to tell you that you have done nothing wrong.
I'm happy, I'm healthy and I'm thankful everyday.
For the fact I have the both of you to call my family.
I'd die for you both
So you
Could see
The
Morning
And to know
That you will be thinking of me
Will make everything that I've done
All the more rewarding
